My Specialty is combining Creative with Technical.
I have the experience to know that beyond aesthetics, design for business means delivering form and function to achieve results with an effective purpose.
I have worked in the Corporate, Creative Manufacturing, Automotive and Pre-press Design sectors. Earlier I paid my “designer dues” working for sign shops doing everything from design, production scheduling, liaising with clients, working with ruby film, plotters, large format digital printers and vinyl graphics. I have worked on some exciting contracts as an independent designer. I worked with an International Architectural firm designing Superpubs including everything from menu design to 10,000 sq ft hand painted murals. I also designed a 174’ x 6’6” mural featured in a Mall in Brazil.
Then I landed my dream job, working for an established company that had a large Art Department with an experienced Art Director that took me under his wing. There I learnt the legacy of many fine designers that worked before me who valued typography, film stripping and dark room skills. I learnt how real designers do pre-press, and design well, because they will be the ones separating the art and doing the chokes and bleeds for production.
Working for a company that became a corporation gave me the opportunity to learn leadership skills beyond the boundaries of a graphic designer. I took workshops and was trained by some very talented people from our sister companies in North America. I pursued other interests in training and co-ordinating the Toyota Production System. I gave back to my company because I believed and understood the importance of how all the components and departments must work together to form a business. I pioneered the Standardization and Visualization of all departments. I also relished the experience as an opportunity to learn about all areas of the company. I am always looking for new opportunities to grow to add to my catalogue of experiences.
